Starter Mike Ballard took a perfect game into the sixth inning on Thursday night. Though he gave up a hit to the first batter of the sixth, Ballard earned the victory, giving up three runs – two earned – on five hits in 7 2/3 innings. He struck out 11 and didn't issue a walk.
Leadoff hitter Craig Gentry raised his average to .300 with a double and a home run in three at-bats. He also reached on a hit by pitch.
Left fielder Thomas Berkery (1/3) also went deep.
