Winterball Roundup - 10/13

Right fielder K.C. Herren (.167/.286/.300 in 30 at bats) reached base three times, going 1-for-3 with a double and two walks.

Craig Gentry went 1-for-5 and DH Chad Tracy was 1-for-4 with a base on balls.

Arizona Fall League: Surprise 5 – Phoenix 4

Designated hitter John Mayberry went 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs, including the game-winning solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Mayberry's round-trippers gave him three in the last two days.

Backstop Taylor Teagarden (2/4) singled twice while German Duran (1/4) and Elvis Andrus (1/3) each singled once. Andrus added a stolen base in the game.

Left-handed pitcher Danny Herrera struck out two in a scoreless inning of work. He allowed one base hit.

Mexican Winter League

Mexicali was three-hit, but leadoff hitter Brandon Boggs had a nice day at the plate. The centerfielder went 2-for-3 with a walk.

Left fielder Jason Botts – of Obregon – was hitless in four at bats. He struck out twice.

Former Rangers farmhands Kevin Walker (5 IP) and Matt Riley (1 IP) helped to combine on the shutout for Guasave.

Venezuelan Winter League

Free-agent-to-be Kendy Batista hurled a hitless inning for the Sharks of La Guaira.

Chris Baker, another minor league free agent, tossed a scoreless frame for the Magallanes.
