Winterball Roundup - 10/16

Outfielders Jason Botts and Brandon Boggs went up against eachother in Mexico on Tuesday night and both turned in solid efforts. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at the day's winterball action.

Hawaii Winter Baseball: West Oahu 5 – (@) Waikiki 3 (8 innings)

Craig Gentry (.205/.311/.308) helped lead West Oahu to their second consecutive victory with two hits – including a double – in three at bats. The former Arkansas Razorback was also hit by a pitch.

Right fielder K.C. Herren was 1-for-4.

Arizona Fall League: Surprise 10 – (@) Scottsdale 1
6-1, 1.0 GU

Left-handed pitcher Matt Harrison picked up the win for the Rafters, as he surrendered only one run in four innings. The 6-foot-5 hurler scattered five hits, walked two, and struck out one.

Scott Feldman followed with two shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk. He struck out two.

Second baseman German Duran was 0-for-3 with a walk while DH John Mayberry was 1-for-4 with a free pass.

Mexican Winter League

The teams of Brandon Boggs and Jason Botts squared off on Tuesday night and both Rangers performed well.

Mexicali centerfielder Brandon Boggs singled three times and walked in five plate appearances.

Obregon left fielder Jason Botts was 2-for-3 with two walks and three runs scored.

Obregon took home the 10-4 victory.

Venezuelan Winter League

Free agent Chris Baker – who spent the '07 season in the Rangers system – retired both batters he faced. He struck out one.

Former Ranger Richard Hidalgo was 2-for-3 for the Magallanes. He shares an outfield with centerfielder Erold Andrus, brother of Rangers prospect Elvis.
