McCoy Ends Recruitment

One of the best available guards in the 2008 class if off the table. Paul McCoy is headed to Conference USA.

SMU was among the first schools to get involved with Paul McCoy when he picked up his release from Pepperdine and the early attention paid off, as he committed to them late Wednesday night.

"I wanted to go where I was wanted, needed and would make a difference," McCoy told

McCoy is a talented athlete that attacks the rim well and really look to get his teammates involved. The 5-foot-11, 160-pounder is currently ranked as the 10th best point guard in the 2008 class.

The Portland (Ore.) Grant standout picked SMU over strong interest from Kentucky, Virginia and host of other programs.
