Winterball Roundup - 10/15

Dustin Nippert pitched well on Wednesday's Dominican Winter League opening day. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's winterball action.

Arizona Fall League: Surprise 2 – (@) Scottsdale 6

First baseman Chad Tracy batted cleanup and went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts. The Pepperdine product is off to a rough 1-for-12 start to his Fall League season.

DH John Whittleman was hitless in four at-bats. He struck out twice and drove in one run.

Mexican Pacific League

No Rangers appeared on Tuesday.

Venezuelan Winter League

Elvis Andrus singled once in three at-bats. His Magallanes club features a number of current and former Major Leaguers, including Richard Hidalgo, Jay Gibbons, Endy Chavez, Carlos Guillen, and Melvin Mora. Elvis is also getting an opportunity to play with his brother, Erold, who is an outfielder in the Rays system.

For La Guaira, shortstop Renny Osuna went 0-for-4 with a sacrifice fly. Right fielder Ben Harrison (0/3, BB) was also without a hit.

Left-hander Joseph Ortiz, who turned 18-years-old in August, appeared in his first Venezuelan Winter League game. He allowed an unearned run without recording an out.

Dominican Winter League

Dustin Nippert got the start for Licey and pitched four scoreless innings. The tall righty scattered five hits, walked two, and struck out one.
