Frisco first baseman Justin Smoak continued his recent tear on Sunday, falling a triple short of the cycle. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's minor league action.

The RoughRiders were powered by a seven-run sixth inning on Sunday afternoon.

Omar Poveda (4.00 ERA/.265 BAA in 18 innings) had his best start in Double-A, surrendering just one run on six hits in six innings. He walked three and struck out three.

First baseman Justin Smoak (.323/.427/.516 in 62 at-bats) got the scoring started with a two-run homer in the first inning. He also singled, doubled, and walked.

Smoak has posted mutliple hits in each of his last four games.

Left fielder Chad Tracy (2/5, HR) smacked his team-leading fourth home run of the season.

Guilder Rodriguez (1/4, 3B) tripled while Steve Murphy (1/5, 2B) hit his third double.

DH Jose Vallejo raised his average to .328 with two singles in four at-bats. He also stole his sixth base of the season.

Second baseman Marcus Lemon was 1-for-4 with a run batted in. The Florida native picked up his first hit in five games.

Right-handed reliever John Bannister struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning.

Through five innings, Blake Beavan had faced the minimum, allowing just one single.

Things fell apart in the sixth. The tall right-hander ended up allowing six runs -- four earned -- on six hits in 5.1 innings. He struck out two without issuing a walk.

Leadoff hitter Engel Beltre (.184/.215/.289) was 2-for-5 with a double, a home run, and two RBIs.

Right fielder Joey Butler (3/4, 2B, HR) also doubled and homered.

Tim Smith (1/4), Ian Gac (1/4) and Renny Osuna (1/4) all singled once.

The Bakersfield bullpen did an outstanding job.

Left-hander Corey Young (1.86 ERA/.152 BAA) walked one but didn't allow a hit in 1.2 innings.

Zach Phillips struck out all three batters he faced in a perfect inning. In 9.1 innings this season, Phillips has allowed two runs on five hits, walking one and striking out 11. Lefties are hitting .059 against him.

Evan Reed (1.08 ERA/.185 BAA) struck out one in a scoreless inning.

The Bakersfield bullpen trio could all be pitching in Frisco before the first half is over.

Big righty Wilmer Font was excellent in his second start of the year, yielding one run in 3.2 innings. He gave up four hits, walked one, and struck out four.

Pitching in his first game of the year, Cody Eppley allowed four hits in two scoreless innings, walking none and fanning two.

Left fielder Jared Bolden, Eppley's teammate at Virginia Commonwealth last season, singled twice and scored two runs in four at-bats.

First baseman Clark Murphy singled once and walked twice, raising his average to .246.
