Minor League Roundup - 5/2

Hickory slugger Mike Bianucci belted his fifth home run of the year on Saturday while right-hander Wilmer Font gave up just two hits in five innings. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's minor league action.

Doug Mathis surrendered three runs in the first inning, but settled down and ended up allowing four total runs in six innings. He allowed nine hits, walked two, and fanned three.

Catcher Emerson Frostad was 2-for-4 with his second double of the season.

Royce Huffman singled once and walked twice in four plate appearances.

Right-hander John Bannister pitched in his first Triple-A game and didn't allow a run in one inning. He gave up two hits, both of which were singles.

Blake Beavan was lit up for eight runs on eight hits in 2.2 innings on Saturday. He gave up one home run, one triple, and two doubles in the start.

Matt Lawson (2/5, 2B) and Jose Felix (2/3, 2B, BB) both doubled while leadoff man Engel Beltre and left fielder Tim Smith both singled twice in three at-bats.

Left-hander Zach Phillips pitched 2.1 innings, allowing no runs and no hits. Ryan Falcon followed by striking out four in two shutout frames.

Starting pitcher Wilmer Font (1.15 ERA/.204 BAA) was excellent once again, limiting Lakewood to two runs -- one earned -- on two hits over five innings pitched. He walked one and struck out four batters.

Right fielder Mike Bianucci was 2-for-4 with a his fifth home run of the season.

Jake Kaase was 3-for-4 with his third triple.

Mark Hamburger struck out one and gave up one hit in 1.1 shutout innings to finish out the game for Hickory.
