Winterball Roundup - 10/23

Matt Harrison made his return to the mound on Friday afternoon, while Joaquin Arias continued his solid start in the Dominican Republic. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's winterball action.

The Rafters and Desert Dogs combined for 16 runs in the seventh inning, with each side plating eight.

Right fielder Mitch Moreland was the only Rangers position player to appear in the game. He was 1-for-3 with a base on balls. He was also hit by a pitch.

Left-hander Matt Harrison made his first appearance in any game since June 23. The hurler worked a scoreless fifth inning, giving up one hit and striking out one batter. He earned the victory.

Mexican Pacific League


Luis Mendoza had little issue cruising to a victory on Friday, as the Yaquis scored 15 runs in the game's first three innings. Mendoza allowed four runs on 11 hits in 5.2 innings, walking one and striking out five.

Venezuelan Winter League


Designated hitter Max Ramirez continued to show signs of improvement on Friday, as he went 2-for-3 with a pair of walks.

Centerfielder David Paisano singled once in four at-bats.

La Guaira lefty specialist Joseph Ortiz walked the only hitter he faced. The batter later came around to score for an earned run.

Dominican Winter League


Mauro Gomez went 0-for-3 with a walk for the Toros on Friday.

Escogido leadoff hitter and shortstop Joaquin Arias was 1-for-2 with two walks and a run batted in.
