Right-hander Brennan Garr continued to impress since a rough first outing. He pitched 1.1 scoreless innings on Saturday, giving up one hit, walking one, and striking out one.
The Colorado native sat between 90-92 mph with his fastball–a tick lower than usual–and he was able to throw both his slider and changeup with some effectiveness. Garr used the 80 mph split-change to record his lone strikeout.
Catcher Doug Hogan went hitless in four at-bats, striking out once. He is just 2-for-17 in his first five games.
No Rangers appeared on Sunday.
Tiburones DH Max Ramirez went 0-for-3 with a walk.
Shortstop Joaquin Arias doubled once and walked once in his five plate appearances.
Former Rangers relief prospect Jose Marte, who was traded to Arizona for Dustin Nippert, allowed one unearned run in one inning for the Estrellas de Oriente. The 26-year-old posted a 4.52 earned-run average in 71.2 relief innings for Triple-A Reno this season.
Scuffling Toros first baseman Mauro Gomez went without a hit in two at-bats, dropping his average to .182.
Begins November 12
