Winterball Roundup - 11/14

Mike Ballard appeared in his first game in the Puerto Rican Winter League on Saturday, hurling three scoreless innings. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's winterball action.

Arizona Fall League: Surprise 2 - Scottsdale 4

Leadoff hitter and second baseman Marcus Lemon was finally silenced, as he went 0-for-4 with a walk on Saturday afternoon.

Designated hitter Doug Hogan singled once in four at-bats.

Reliever Brennan Garr gave up one unearned run in one inning of work. He got two groundouts before giving up a walk and an infield single. Rafters third baseman Mike Moustakas threw the ball away, and the run came in to score.

Garr was working anywhere between 89-92 mph with his fastball. He threw two changeups and one slider in the 19-pitch outing.

Mexican Pacific League

Catcher Jose Felix appeared as a pinch runner, and he also singled in his only plate appearance.

Former Rangers prospect Jason Botts appeared in his first game of the winter for Obregon. He went 2-for-4 with a double and three runs batted in. Fellow tall slugger John Mayberry, who batted two spots below Botts, was 4-for-5 with a double and three RBI.

Venezuelan Winter League

Max Ramirez finally broke out of his slump on Saturday, as he went 2-for-5 with a home run and three runs batted in.

Starting pitcher Omar Poveda suffered the loss for Aragua despite pitching fairly well. The right-hander allowed two runs on five hits in 4.1 innings. He fanned three without issuing a walk.

Guillermo Moscoso worked another scoreless inning for Caracas, giving up one hit. He has surrendered just two runs in eight innings over seven appearances thus far.

Dominican Winter League

Licey pinch runner Andres James also played second base and shortstop in the contest. He committed an error and went 0-for-1 at the plate in the 15-5 blowout.

Pitching in his second game of the winter, Pedro Strop allowed one run in 1.2 innings of work. He gave up two hits and fanned one without issuing a walk.

Puerto Rican Winter League

Left-hander Mike Ballard did an excellent job in long relief for Caguas, tossing three scoreless innings. He gave up two hits while walking two and striking out two.

Ponce reliever Adalberto Flores allowed one run in one inning. He yielded one hit and walked two.
