The Oklahoma City RedHawks picked up a victory over Round Rock on Wednesday behind a strong effort from Brandon McCarthy. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's minor league action.

Working off a mixture of cutters and sinkers between 87-90 mph, right-hander Brandon McCarthy pitched seven outstanding innings on Wednesday afternoon. The tall righty limited Round Rock to just one run on two singles, walking one and striking out two.

First baseman Chad Tracy (.323/.323/.677 in seven games) had a big day, going 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run. Tracy has hit safely in six of the seven games this season.

Craig Gentry was 3-for-5 with a triple, two runs batted in, and his second stolenb ase of the season.

Justin Smoak (1/3, BB), Matt Brown (2/4, 2B) and Max Ramirez (2/3, BB) reached multiple times.

The RoughRiders enjoyed the first scheduled off-day in the Rangers' system this season.

Starting pitcher Wilfredo Boscan was the hard-luck loser in a strong effort. The 20-year-old allowed one run on four hits in five innings, walking one and striking out four.

Kennil Gomez came on in relief on Boscan to get his work in. Gomez started the game that was dusted out after just one inning. The righty struggled a bit, walking two and giving up a hit in two-thirds of an inning, although he didn't allow a run.

Right fielder David Paisano saw his average drop to .500 with one single in three at-bats, but he also stole his third base of the young season.

Left fielder Jake Kaase (1/3, 2B) had the team's only extra-base hit, and SS Davis Stoneburner (1/3 BB) had the team's only RBI.

Reliever Tyler Tufts struck out two in a perfect ninth inning.

Right fielder Jared Prince had a career night in the losing effort, going 4-for-4 with three doubles and three runs batted in. He was also plunked by a pitch.

First baseman Michael Ortiz is off to a slow start, but he helped turn it around with two singles and a sacrifice fly in four plate appearances.

Cody Podraza (2/4, BB) and Leury Garcia (2/5) both singled twice. Vin DiFazio was 0-for-2 with two strikeouts, but he also walked three times.

Left-hander Robbie Ross suffered the loss, as he had some rare struggles, giving up five runs on eight hits and three walks in 4.2 frames.

Relievers Trevor Hurley and Josh Lueke retired all 10 batters they faced.

Hurley worked 2.1 perfect innings, striking out five of the seven batters. Josh Lueke fanned all three in the ninth inning.
