Rays Digest Adds Gierer

RaysDigest.com is pleased to announce the addition of a new writer, the talented Kathy Gierer. Gierer, who was the first female official scorer in professional baseball, has been covering minor league sports in Columbus, Georgia for more than twenty years. Currently, she is the beat reporter for the Columbus Cottonmouths at the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer.

RaysDigest.com is pleased to announce the addition of a new writer, the talented Kathy Gierer.

Gierer, who was the first female official scorer in professional baseball, has been covering minor league sports in Columbus, Georgia for more than twenty years. Currently, she is the beat reporter for the Columbus Cottonmouths at the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer.

In addition to writing, she worked as an English teacher for several of the Cleveland Indians' Latin-born players, including current stars Jhonny Peralta and Victor Martinez, when the organization had an affiliate in Columbus

Starting this spring, she will primarily cover the Tampa Bay Rays' Single-A affiliates, the 2007 South Atlantic League Champion Columbus Catfish, and the Vero Beach Devil Rays, for Rays Digest.
