Tampa Bay, set to open up spring training camp later this week, seems poised to emerge as a sleeper in the American League East this season, fielding its strongest 40-man roster in some time. With a dangerous 1-2 punch in Scott Kazmir and James Shields at the top of the starting rotation and the addition of talented right-hander Matt Garza, the Rays now have perhaps one of the most exciting young pitching staffs in all of baseball.
The big question on the mind of many Rays fans headed into spring training, however, is whether or not top prospect Evan Longoria will begin the season with the big-league club. Longoria, Tampa Bay's first-round pick out of Long Beach State in '06, is the consensual top prospect in Major League Baseball. According to the Rays, their decision on his status will be made prior to the start of camp.
Fleming and Hissey will weigh in on Longoria, the Rays' encouraging offseason, deep minor league system and much more. If you have a question that you would like answered on the show, send an email to Rays Digest
