With the end of the year rapidly approaching, what better time to look back at how 2007 Red Sox draftees fared? (Part one of two; rounds 1-20)

SUPPLEMENTARY FIRST ROUND
55.) Nick Hagadone, LHP, University of Washington
College: 11 svs; 72 Ks & 17 BBs in 68.1 IP
Went 0-1 with a 1.85 ERA in 10 starts at Lowell. Struck out 33 while allowing just 14 hits and eight walks in 24 1/3 innings. Still penciled into the rotation next season but could eventually re-emerge as a reliever.

Ryan Dent, SS, Woodrow Wilson HS (CA)
High school: 28 SBs in '07
Stole eight bases in 12 attempts between the GCL Red Sox and Lowell and hit .371 in 35 at-bats in the GCL to earn a late-season promotion to Lowell.

Hunter Morris, IF, Virgil I. Grissom HS (AL)
High school: 6-yr member of varsity
Did not sign, is attending Auburn.

THIRD ROUND
114.) Brock Huntzinger, RHP, Pendleton Heights HS (IN)
High school: 1.33 ERA, 160 Ks in 96.1 IP since '06
Teenager went 0-1 with a 2.57 ERA, eight whiffs and no walks in seven innings for the GCL Red Sox.

144.) Chris Province, RHP, Southeastern Louisiana
College: Throws mid-to-high 90s sinker
Went 3-2 with a 4.23 ERA and three saves in 18 games between Lowell and Greenville. Had 27 strikeouts and 10 walks in 38 1/3 innings.

174.) William Middlebrooks, P/IF, Liberty-Eylau HS (TX)
High school: 13-0, .581 BA in '07; Texas A&M signee
Signed just before the Aug. 15 deadline but did not play in the minors. Projected to play shortstop this season.

SIXTH ROUND
204.) Anthony Rizzo, 1B, Stoneman Douglas HS (FL)
High school: Hit .468 w/11 HR, 40 RBI in '07
Signed just before the Aug. 15 deadline and hit .286 with one homer and three RBI in 21 at-bats over six games for the GCL Red Sox.

234.) David Mailman, 1B, Providence HS (NC)
High school: .541 BA, 14 HR, 35 BB in '07 all team recd's
Signed just before the Aug. 15 deadline and hit .227 with one homer and two RBI in 22 at-bats over six games for the GCL Red Sox.

264.) Adam Mills, P, UNC-Charlotte
College: Led D-I w/14 wins, 1.01 ERA in '07
Served mostly as a "piggyback" reliever in order to limit his innings after a brilliant collegiate season and went 3-1 with a 2.04 ERA and one save in 14 games (one start) for Lowell. Struck out 37 while walking just nine in 35 1/3 innings.

College: .401 w/10 HR, 61 RBI in '07
Raw JUCO talent .207 with one homer, 15 RBI and 47 strikeouts in 145 at-bats for Lowell.

324.) Kenneth Roque, SS, Puerto Rico BB Academy HS
High school: Lincoln Memorial U signee
Hit .145 with no homers, four RBI and 21 strikeouts in 62 at-bats for the GCL Red Sox. Didn't turn 18 until after the season. Played at the PRBB under Luis Lopez, who was just hired as a coach at Lowell.

High school: Texas Tech signee; has signed with Sox
Signed shortly after the draft but did not pitch in the minors.

Went 0-2 with a 5.29 ERA and 17 walks in 32 1/3 innings for Lowell, but he whiffed 43 and allowed only 28 hits.

High school: 8-3, 1.71 ERA, 4 svs, 92 Ks in 63.1 IP in ‘07
Signed just before the Aug. 15 deadline but did not pitch in the minors.

534.) Jaren Matthews, 1B, Don Bosco Prep HS (NJ)
High school: Rutgers signee
Agreed to terms with the Sox the week of the deadline, but backed out of the deal in order to go to Rutgers.

High school: Tossed no-hitter in state tourney
Went 0-2 with a 6.04 ERA in nine games (six starts) for the GCL Red Sox. Allowed 40 hits in 25 1/3 innings but struck out 22 while walking just four.

NINETEENTH ROUND
594.) David Marks, OF, Edmonds CC (WA)
College: Conference All-Star in ‘07
Hit .241 with one homer, 14 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 13 attempts for Lowell. Drew 30 walks and struck out 59 times in 174 at-bats.
