So, It's basically a dead deal before it even gets started. No way the REDS trade away the pieces they already have...for a super star contract that runs through 2014...W/ the back end being 3 $15M+ yrs.
I just do not see it happening..No way HR gets moved to CIN... If Ramirez gets moved...He'll end up in BOS.
They'll sell the farm. They have the $$$ to buy MLB replacements.
Yes, he's not an option for the Reds. No question he's a superstar-maybe the most desirable postion player that anyone could add to add to a roster considering his age. Pujols fans may have a different opinion, but Ramirez does add a lot of offense from the shortstop position.
Of course there is the uncertainty at ss for the Reds, which would make him a perfect addition to our team-if the price was right. You can bet the price won't be right. The only way the Marlins move him is to pick up multiple young players to add to their own and form a core group they can win with down the road. Why don't we just keep our players and win with them here instead? There just aren't many Hanley Ramirez's and it would definitely be a seller's market if he left the Marlins.
It's a shame the structure of the game is such that it's a foregone conclusion that he will eventually end up with the Red Sox. There are only two franchises that are even prospects for getting him and one of them already had to convert ARod to 3b because they already had Jeter at ss.
