Duane Below Strong in Toledo Win (4/7 Recaps)

Toledo picked up a tight win over Louisville Sunday, squeaking by in a 3-2 final. Duane Below was impressive on the mound in six innings of work. Erie and Lakeland also earned wins on Sunday, while West Michigan lost its second in a row.

Led offensively by right fielder Danny Dorn, Toledo was able to break an eighth inning tie to salvage its first win of the season, topping Louisville in a 3-2 final. Dorn went 1-for-3 at the plate, including a two run home run in the first inning. Starting pitcher Duane Below had an impressive showing on the mound for the Mud Hens, giving up two earned runs on four hits in six innings pitched. Reliever Luis Marte earned the win after coming in for an inning of work. Jade Todd tallied his first save of the season in the win. Left fielder Nick Castellanos went 3-for-5 with a double in the win.

2-2, 3rd in Eastern Division

Despite being shut out in the first six innings, Erie rode a five-run seventh inning to top Altoona 5-2. Shortstop Hernan Perez had another solid outing for the SeaWolves, going 1-for-4 and drove in two runs in the win. Erie starting pitcher Warwick Saupold had a strong performance on the mound, giving up two runs on one hit in five innings pitched. Reliever Matt Crouse earned his first win of the season after shutting out Altoona in three innings of work. Justin Souza notched his first save of the season in the win.

High-A Lakeland Flying Tigers
2-2, 3rd in North Division

Pitching was key for Lakeland on its way to a second consecutive win, topping Tampa 3-1. Lakeland starter Kyle Ryan earned his first win of the season in 5 2/3 innings of work, giving up one earned run on five hits while striking out one. Reliever Michael Torrealba earned his first save of the season in the win. Second baseman Tyler Hanover had a solid outing at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI in the win.

Low-A West Michigan Whitecaps
2-2, 3rd in Eastern Division

The Whitecaps struggled offensively on Sunday, tallying just four hits in a 4-1 loss at home to Dayton. Second baseman Devon Travis drove in the lone run for West Michigan. Starting pitcher Jordan John had a decent outing on the mound, giving up three runs on eight hits in six innings of work.
