Perez, Seratelli named Texas League All-Stars

The Texas League on Monday announced its All-Star Game rosters, and two Naturals were voted onto the North Division squad. Catcher Salvador Perez and utilityman Anthony Seratelli will represent Northwest Arkansas as the North takes on the South on June 29th in San Antonio.

Anthony Seratelli was voted as the North Division's starting designated hitter. The versatile 28-year-old is hitting .320/.433/.459 with six home runs and 27 RBIs. He has also swiped 13 bases in 15 attempts. Since the beginning of May, Seratelli has hit a scorching .348, and he currently ranks third in the Texas League in on-base percentage, fifth in stolen bases, and eighth in batting average.

Salvador Perez was named as the North Division's reserve catcher, behind starter Wilin Rosario. At 21, the backstop is among the youngest players in the Texas League. On the season, Perez is hitting .247/.291/.340 with three home runs and nine RBIs. His primary contribution this season, however, has come from behind the plate. So far this year, Perez has caught a league-best 44.4 percent (24 CS in 54 attempts) of attempted basestealers.

Thanks to the Naturals' 2010 Texas League title, the North squad will be led by NW Arkansas manager Brian Poldberg and his coaching and training staff.

The Texas League All-Star rosters were voted on by a panel that included Texas League President Tom Kayser, the league's managers, coaches, radio broadcasters, and newspaper beat writers.
