RC Organizational Report: August 27

After going 7-2 on Sunday, the organization's affiliates couldn't repeat that success on Monday, as only two of the seven clubs managed victories. In Arizona, David Wood launched two home runs, while Burlington's Kyle Martin blasted his club-best 10th home run of the season. RC has all the details inside in today's minor league report.

The Omaha Royals were beaten down 11-4 in the first game of the second-to-last series of the season. Poor defense killed Matt Wright and the O-Royals, as they committed four errors, three by Fernando Cortez, in the first four innings of the ballgame. Cortez somewhat made up for the errors by going 3-for-3 with a sacrifice fly. Craig Brazell and Justin Huber hit their 32nd and 16th home runs, respectively.

AA: Tulsa 10, Wichita 1

L: Jorge De La Rosa (0-1, 11.25)

Jorge De La Rosa (L, 0-1)2.045515211.25

One night after two separate offensive explosions, the Wichita Wranglers saw the tables turned with a 10-1 loss. Rehabbing Jorge De La Rosa was touched up for five runs on four hits in two innings. It didn't go much better for reliever Juan Cedeno either, as he gave up five runs in his five innings of work. The Wichita offense was nowhere to be found, as a third inning RBI double by Geraldo Valentin was the only run produced.

High-A: Wilmington 6, Lynchburg 3

A five-run fourth inning propelled the Wilmington Blue Rocks to a 6-3 win over Lynchburg. Blake Johnson only lasted three innings, allowing six hits and three runs before being yanked. Rayner Oliveros filled in very nicely though, tossing four scoreless innings and picking up the win. The offensive star on the night was Miguel Vega, as he went 2-for-4 with a double, home run, and two RBI's.

The Burlington Bees lost in the late innings on Monday, 6-4. Edward Cegarra wasn't spectacular, allowing four runs on five hits in five innings. Angelo Morales relieved him and pitched well until the ninth, when he allowed a two-run homer to give Wisconsin the lead. Derrick Robinson went 1-for-3 and stole two bases on the night, his 33rd and 34th of the season.

The Idaho Falls Chukars won their fourth straight game and opened up a three game lead in the Pioneer League south division with an 8-1 victory. Starter Burke Baldwin picked up his fourth win by going five innings and allowing one run on five hits. Zach Peterson picked up right where he left off from his last effort, this time going three innings and striking out six. Clint Robinson bolstered his average to .338 by going 2-for-3 with two walks, and he also knocked in three runs.

W: Bryan Paukovits (3-4, 4.91), S: Jimmy Rollins (3)

SS Kyle Martin411001102.242

The Burlington Royals lost on Monday, 6-4. Six different B-Royals each had a single hit in the game, as they scrapped together four runs. Kyle Martin blasted his team-leading 10th home run in the bottom of the eighth inning. It wasn't enough, however, as some poor defense ended up doing the B-Royals in as two unearned runs crossed the plate in the top of the sixth.

Ivor Hodgson fared slightly better, allowing a run over 2.1 innings while striking out four. David Wood provided all the offense for the Royals, going 3-for-4 with two solo home runs.
