Injury Updates: Arizona Diamondbacks' Shelby Miller, Washington Nationals' Adam Eaton Out For Season

Shelby Miller opted for Tommy John surgery while an MRI confirmed Adam Eaton has torn his ACL.

The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Washington Nationals were given the worst news they could’ve expected. The players involved are Shelby Miller and Adam Eaton.

Shelby Miller finally decided to be subjected to Tommy John surgery, after consulting his team’s medical staff, Dr. Neal ElAttrache and Dr. James Andrews. All roads indeed lead to surgery, and he will need to undergo a surgery sure to keep him out until next year, after suffering a partial tear in his right e himself next year.

Eaton, on the other hand, was subjected to an MRI on Saturday, after suffering an injury on Friday against the New York Mets. The outfielder overdid himself while trying to get to first base after blasting a grounder, and he did do it, but he tore his anterior cruciate ligament while attempting to reach first base and will be out for the rest of the season, as reported by FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal.

Eaton’s now vacant position will be filled by Rafael Bautista, who was called up from the Triple-A on Saturday. The outfielder will be out for the year leaving a slash line of .297/.393/.462, with two home runs, seven doubles and 24 runs scored in his first 23 games. It will be, undoubtedly, a sensible loss for Baker and the Nats.
