Baltimore Orioles All-Star closer Zach Britton will be out until at least the All-Star break with a forearm strain. Britton will be shut down completely before he starts a throwing program.
According to the Baltimore Sun, Britton traveled to Los Angeles for a visit with orthopedist Dr. Neal ElAttrache, where he received another MRI that revealed less swelling than the previous one he got when Britton returned to the disabled list Saturday.
Manager Buck Showalter said Britton would report to the team's spring training complex in Sarasota, Florida, but did not provide further details regarding the next step for Britton.
Britton established himself as one of the game's elite closers last year and with the Orioles in a tight race in the American League East this early in the season with the Yankees, it's a tough loss to deal with.
