Scouting Report

Simpson is the owner of an enormous 6-foot-7 frame and he uses it very well. He gets on top nicely, working from an easy delivery. His downward plane makes his 89-93 mph fastball look even better. And, with time as he learns to extend a bit more and pitch more aggressively that will velocity will go up as well. Simpson's 72-76 mph curveball is currently a below average pitch and is a work in progress. But, his fastball has good movement and he's most around the plate, which right now is enough to get him by. This is a very live arm with tremendous upside, the type that pro pitching coaches love to work with.
