2012 Draft Scouting Report: Jonathan Sandfort

Scouting reports are the foundation of the talent evaluation system, and the reports that are used on draft day are developed from multiple viewings over the course of a player's amateur career. As part of our 2012 draft coverage here at Scout.com, we'll be providing team quality first-hand scouting reports on the names you need to know on draft day. Scouting Report

Sandfort is your classic projection case. He has a towering 6-foot-6 frame with plenty of room to continue to fill out. And, his present stuff already isn't so bad. He works at 90-91 mph with his fastball and in time I'd expect him to jump up to 93-94 mph. Sandfort also has a feel for a solid-average changeup at 77-81 mph. The arm action is somewhat rough so that's one concern to watch out for in the coming years.
