Scouting Report

Every team needs to develop swing and miss type arms for the back of the bullpen. The Giants' appear to have one of those guys' in Stephen Harrold. He's been missing bats at a heavy clip in the fall league thanks to a plus fastball and plus slider. Harrold is, at this moment, a two pitch pitcher but that should be more than enough for him to profile as a setup reliever in the big leagues.

Harrold is a strongly built right-hander and he uses his lower half well. He works steadily at 92-95 mph and shows good life through the zone with his fastball. That fastball is complemented by a plus, late breaking slider with two plane bite. He throws the slider at 83-86 mph and what makes it especially impressive is how well he consistently can spot it for strikes.
