JORDAN SHEFFIELD, RHP, TULLAHOMA H.S. (Tenn.)
The scouting world has had high hopes for Sheffield for a couple years now. In Jupiter, all that upside came to fruition. Sheffield touched 98 mph with his fastball, sitting comfortably at 94-96 mph in his one inning stint. Sheffield does have some effort to his delivery and already there are questions as to whether he ends up being a reliever as a professional. His hard breaking ball, which flashed average potential would allow him to profile well in that role, but this type of arm will be given plenty of opportunities to start.
Sheffield also worked very consistently around the strike zone and had a good pace on the mound. If he can maintain his velocity beyond one inning of work, the upside is simply outstanding.
