JON DENNEY, C, YUKON H.S. (Okla.)
There was one thing most scouts knew with a great deal of certainty about Jon Denney, and that was that he could swing the bat. Denney has one of the best right-handed power bats in the 2013 draft class. His plate discipline, and quick hands on the inside pitch also set him apart. One thing that was less certain about his game was his ability behind the plate.
What we found out in Jupiter was that not only can Denney catch, but he looks like he's going to be a very good one at the professional level. He shows plus arm strength from behind the dish, and quick enough feet to produce 1.95 pop times. His receiving skills have also continued to improve.
