WWBA Scouting Capsule: Jake Brentz

As always, the WWBA World Championship provided numerous highlights that will have the scouting community buzzing going into the spring. Here's a scouting report on one of the talented players at the event, Jake Brentz.

JAKE BRENTZ, LHP, PARKWAY SOUTH H.S. (MO)

You'd be hard pressed to find many scouts who knew Jake Brentz' name before this week's event in Jupiter. If they were familiar with him, they likely knew him as a lefty swinging outfielder. The world was introduced to Brentz this week, however, as a hard throwing left-handed pitcher. He appeared in two different games in Jupiter, and sat at 93-95 mph in his first very brief five pitch outing.

His second time out, on a very blustery day, Brentz checked in at 89-93 mph and flashed a fringy curveball in the low 70s. Considering his unbelievably limited pitching background, it was incredibly impressive to the scouts in attendance. Brentz is also a strong athlete who is likely to just get better and better with experience.
