Scout Hot Sheet Sept. 15-21: Michael Cuddyer

Can one game make a week? For Michael Cuddyer, you bet. Cuddyer's seven-RBI day against Arizona spurred his Player of the Week nomination, but it was the past seven days as a whole that earned him the win.

One game doesn’t necessarily earn a Player of the Week award, but the Colorado RockiesMichael Cuddyer had one hell of a game on Friday.

Cuddyer turned in his second straight three-hit game -- his third in the past seven games – and drove in a career-high seven runs while scoring three himself, cracking a sixth-inning grand slam off of second-year lefty reliever Eury De La Rosa to fuel a 13-5 romp over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

But while that night certainly cemented Cuddyer’s candidacy, he did plenty over the last seven days to put him over the top.

In the past six games, Cuddyer leads the Major Leagues in RBIs (10), home runs (3), extra-base hits (8), total bases (23), OPS (1.573) and slugging (1.095), while posting the sixth-best batting average (.429) in the big leagues.

Cuddyer has a seven-game hitting streak dating back to last week, and has scored at least one run over the past four games, during which he’s crossed home plate nine times – also a big-league best over that period, and third-best in the majors over the past seven days.
