Five Players Ejected During Royals Rumble

It hasn’t even been a year since the Kansas City Royals were World Series sweethearts and now they are World Wrestling sluggers.

The Kansas City Royals, who lead the American League Central, have been in two altercations in the last five days. From Kelvin Herrera throwing 100-mph fastballs at players' heads to the latest bench-clearing brawl against division foes the Chicago White Sox, these guys are ready to rumble.

During a routine play, Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura fielded a Chris Sale grounder but added a little chippiness along the way. Within minutes, a brawl broke out, resulting the two, plus Royals pitcher Edinson Volquez, Royals outfielder Lorenzo Cain and White Sox pitcher Jeff Samardzija being ejected from the game.

The Royals remind me of the time when Hulk Hogan joined the NWO as a heal. Yeah, he had a cool new theme song but being the bad guy never really worked — and it doesn’t for the Royals either. Growing up on the Southside of Chicago, I can tell you first-hand that you don’t stare down a guy and expect to walk away without a fight. The Royals might have won the game 3-2, but the White Sox won the fight and isn't that what matters? The two teams meet tonight in Chicago again. I can already hear the fight bells ringing.
