Stanford has been blessed with a wealth of talent behind the dish the last few years, including high draft picks in 2003 (Ryan Garko) and 2004 (Donny Lucy). We are days away from the 2005 First-Year Player Draft and again have an upperclassman catcher who could begin his journey into professional baseball. Hester's story is unique from any of his predecessors in Stanford Baseball in that he has been calling the pitches from behind the plate for the last month and a half. That is an unprecedented responsibility for any catcher in the 29 years that Mark Marquess has headed the program.
In this exclusive interview with The Bootleg, Hester talks about the big shift in his role behind the dish, plus his draft prospects for next week.
