Ryan Strieby's wrist is feeling good, he has a new protective guard on it for support, and thus far, he's hitting well. Strieby had three hits on Friday including a pair of hits with runners in scoring position, good for three RBI. If Strieby's injury issues are finally behind him, he might be poised for a big year.
Jose Valverde made an appearance in the Triple-A game in an effort to get him work in back-to-back games while the big league game innings were dedicated to those looking to battling for a spot. Ramon Garcia has seen his prospects star fade over the past couple seasons, but the lefty is still competing and had a very good outing on Friday, giving up two runs over 5 2/3 innings.
Bryan Pounds is working as the Double-A club's clean-up hitter, and he cleaned things up in a big way with a "no doubter" home run to drive in a pair of runs. Pounds producing like that is going to be imperative for the SeaWolves this season.
Francisco Martinez is practicing up with the Double-A club right now, an impressive jump after less than a full year in Lakeland and only rookie ball prior to that. Martinez is battling to hold his own.
