After pulling out two close wins, the Flying Tigers fell to Dunedin on Wednesday, 6-5. Drew Smyly got the start and took a no decision, allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits in 6 1/3 innings of work. He also walked one and struck out five. Dan Gentzler took the loss in relief, giving up the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth inning. At the plate, Tony Plagman ripped a solo home run, while Daniel Fields went 2-for-3 including a double, a run scored and an RBI. Gustavo Nunez also added two hits including a triple.

The Whitecaps trailed from the second inning on, and appeared completely out of it when they fell behind 8-1 in the seventh inning. They mounted a comeback attempt to get within three runs, but with the tying run at the plate, Edwin Gomez struck out swinging to end the game and the rally. Antonio Cruz got the start and took the loss, giving up two runs on four hits in 3 1/3 innings. Clemente Mendoza, and Patrick Cooper each had scoreless appearances in relief, but in between them, Steve Crnkovich and Ramon Lebron struggled. Crnkovich took all six runs as earned, but Lebron allowed two of them to score and threw a pair of wild pitches. Hernan Perez had a big game at the plate, going 4-for-5 with a solo home run and a double. Nick Castellanos also added two hits including a double and two RBI.
