After missing Tuesday evening's game due to rain and hail, the Mud Hens made it up on Wednesday and picked up two wins over Syracuse Charlie Furbush got the win in the opener, going all seven innings, allowing two runs on seven hits with a walk and 11 strikeouts Meanwhile the long ball led the way at the plate, as Scott Sizemore, Ryan Strieby and Bryan Pounds each belted solo home runs Sizemore and Pounds each had two RBI The second game was completed early, with a trio of relievers combining to help get the win on the mound Chris Oxspring started and went 3 2/3 innings, giving up just one run on five hits Fu-Te Ni got the win for recording two outs, and Enrique Gonzalez picked up the save, striking out the only two batters he faced Timo Perez went 2-for-3 at the plate, belting a solo home run and driving in all three Mud Hens runs

The SeaWolves had a game to forget on Wednesday as they lost to Reading 14-6 Luke Putkonen took the loss, giving up nine runs (seven earned) in only three innings of work Rob Waite would pitch the next four innings, but allowed three runs of his own, while Austin Wood then allowed another two runs in an inning of work At the plate, Rawley Bishop belted a three run homer, while Francisco Martinez went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and three RBI

The Flying Tigers dropped the first game of their road trip, falling to Clearwater 8-6 Victor Larez got the start and took the loss, allowing seven runs (though just two earned) in 5 1/3 innings of work Tyler Stohr tossed 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to allow the offense a chance to get back in the game, and they got within a run via a four run seventh, but then Clearwater added an insurance run in the eighth of Nate Newman, and while Lakeland had the tying run at the plate in the ninth, they couldn't get beyond that Jordan Lennerton and Avisail Garcia each went 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored and combined for three RBI Corey Jones also had a double and drove in two

The Whitecaps continued their losing skid on Wednesday as they fell to Dayton again, losing 6-2 Kevin Eichhorn had an interesting start as he took the loss, allowing all six runs (five earned) in six innings of work, but he gave up only five hits, walked one and struck out 11 Steve Crnkovich and Clemente Mendoza each tossed a scoreless inning of relief At the plate, the 'Caps managed just five hits, including a double and two RBI from Ryan Enos
