AAA Toledo Mud Hens - Charlotte 8, Toledo 7
14-15, 3rd in West Division
Toledo lost leads twice on Friday night and ended up falling behind in the ninth inning and then losing, falling to Charlotte 8-7. Thad Weber got the start and struggled, giving up six runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings, after the Hens staked him to an early 5-1 lead. Fu-Te Ni allowed a run of his own in 1 1/3 innings as he was credited with the blown save for losing the Hens' 7-5 lead. Brendan Wise and Matt Hoffman kept things scoreless from that point forward, but then Enrique Gonzalez allowed a run to break the tie, and Toledo couldn't score in the bottom half to match. Scott Thorman had a monster day at the plate though, belting a pair of home runs and driving in four runs total. Timo Perez and Ryan Strieby also each ripped two doubles and drove in a run, while Bryan Pounds added three hits.
AA Erie Seawolves - Bowie 12, Erie 6
11-15, 6th in Western Division
It was a rough day for the SeaWolves as they got hammered by Bowie 12-6. Casey Crosby got the start and took a no decision, allowing five runs on five hits in five innings of work - he also walked two and struck out four. Cory Hamilton though took the loss, yielding five runs (just one earned though) via a pair of hits and three walks. Rob Waite did toss two scoreless innings at the end, but the game was already out of reach. Justin Henry had three hits and drove in three runs for the club while Michael Bertram added a pair of RBI. Audy Ciriaco also had two doubles and scored twice.
A+ Lakeland Flying Tigers – Lakeland 9, Tampa 0
14-15, t-3rd in North Division
While the SeaWolves got hammered, the Flying Tigers were the ones doing the hammering in central Florida, picking up a 9-0 shutout win. Jared Wesson got the start and was masterful, allowing just two hits in eight innings of work with four walks and three strikeouts. Ryan Robowski closed things out with the final scoreless inning to complete the shutout. Tony Plagman had a double and drove in three runs for the club, while Michael Rockett added a double, a triple, an RBI and a run scored. Daniel Fields also went 2-for-4 with a solo home run.
A West Michigan Whitecaps - West Michigan 6, Great Lakes 4
10-17, t-7th in Eastern division
The Whitecaps picked up a 6-4 win over Great Lakes on Friday night. Josue Carreno got the start and picked up his first win of the year, giving up four runs in six innings. Ramon Lebron tossed two scoreless innings of relief with four strikeouts, and Michael Torrealba pitched the ninth for his first save. Rob Brantly once again led the way, going 3-for-4 with a three run homer and four RBI total. Jeff Rowland also added a solo shot for the 'Caps.
