AAA Toledo Mud Hens - Durham 7, Toledo 3
22-27, t-3rd in West Division
The Mud Hens continued their downward tailspin as they fell to Durham 7-3. Ramon Garcia got the start and pitched well, giving up two runs on six hits in five innings of work. But with a slim 3-2 lead, the Toledo bullpen couldn't keep Durham in check, with Matt Hoffman allowing the run for the blown save in his 1 2/3 innings and Brendan Wise then allowing two more to take the loss. Robbie Weinhardt allowed a pair of unearned runs to score in his time to complete the runs allowed. At the plate, Ryan Strieby went 2-for-4 with a two run homer. Cale Iorg also added a pair of doubles.
AA Erie Seawolves - Erie 11, Reading 7
21-24, 6th in Western Division
The SeaWolves topped Reading 11-7 in a shortened game due to fog. Mark Sorensen got the win, giving up seven runs in five innings of work before the game was called. The 'Wolves offense though managed 12 hits in just the five innings. Michael Bertram ripped a pair of doubles and drove in three runs. Brandon Douglas had three hits including a double, scored three times, drove in two and swiped three bases. Bryan Pounds also had two hits and a walk and scored three times, and Justin Henry added two hits and two RBI.
A+ Lakeland Flying Tigers – Lakeland 3, Palm Beach 2
25-24, 4th in North Division
Lakeland picked up a tight 3-2 win over Palm Beach as they put up two runs in the eighth to re-claim the lead and held on for the win. In the eighth, Jordan Lennerton ripped a two run single that scored Julio Rodriguez and Gustavo Nunez to grab the lead. The runs were enough to get the win for Jared Wesson, who tossed seven strong innings for the Flying Tigers, giving up two runs on five hits with no walks and four strikeouts. Tyler Stohr then struck out the side in the eighth before handing things over to Kenny Faulk, who struck out a pair in the ninth for his 12th save. In addition to the two-run single, Lennerton drove in the club's other run in the first inning. The team managed just six hits as a whole while striking out 15 times.
A West Michigan Whitecaps - West Michigan 6, Lake County 3
19-27, 8th in Eastern division
The Whitecaps picked up another win on Friday, topping Lake County 6-3. Kyle Ryan got the win as a he turned in a quality start, allowing three runs in seven innings of work with a walk and eight strikeouts. Ramon Lebron then pitched the eighth and Bruce Rondon walked a pair in the ninth but still retired the side to secure the win and earn his seventh save. Luis Castillo ripped a pair of doubles and drove in a pair of runs with two walks as well, while James Robbins belted a two run homer. Nick Castellanos also added three hits including a double and drove in a run.
R VSL Tigers - Tigers 6, Rays 3
3-6, 6th in VSL
After starting the season out with six straight losses, the VSL Tigers are putting together a little winning streak, having won three straight, the latest being a 6-3 triumph over the VSL Rays. Yonny Mosquera got the start, giving up two runs in four innings of work. Cruz Cedeno got the win in relief, allowing a run in four innings. Jairo Sanchez then allowed a hit and a walk to put the tying run at the plate, but got out of the jam to pick up his second save. At the plate, Jose Soledad belted a solo home run and drove in two total. Carlos Perez and David Gonzalez each added two hits and an RBI.
