AAA Toledo Mud Hens - Toledo 4, Scranton/WB 1
27-32, 4th in West Division
The Mud Hens picked up a 4-1 win over Scranton/Wilkes-Barre as they wrapped up their road trip and headed home to Toledo. Thad Weber carried the way as the starter, giving up just one run in seven innings of work. He scattered five hits while walking none and striking out six as he earned his third win of the season. Matt Hoffman and Ryan Perry each tossed a scoreless inning of relief, with Perry earning the save. At the plate, Deik Scram had a hit and drove in a pair of runs for the club, while Scott Thorman added two hits and scored twice. Bryan Pounds also added two hits including a double and drove in a run.
AA Erie Seawolves - Off Day
27-28, 3rd in Western Division
The SeaWolves were off on Monday as they prepared for their upcoming road trip which kicks off on Tuesday at Altoona.
A+ Lakeland Flying Tigers – Tampa 3, Lakeland 1
30-28, 4th in North Division
Lakeland fell to Tampa again on Monday by the same score they did on Sunday, 3-1. This time it was Jared Wesson that took the loss, but he still turned in a quality start, allowing three runs in six innings of work. He also walked three and struck out six. Michael Morrison tossed a scoreless inning of relief, while Kenny Faulk added two more, but the Flying Tigers' offense remained quiet, managing ten singles, but never being able to put a threat together. Wade Gaynor drove in the club's only run, while Corey Jones, Gustavo Nunez and Jordan Lennerton each managed two hits.
A West Michigan Whitecaps - Off Day
24-33, 8th in Eastern division
The Whitecaps were also off on Monday but return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Peoria to kick off a four game set.
R DSL Tigers - Angels 9, Tigers 3
1-4, 4th in DSL SPM Division
The DSL Tigers fell to the DSL Angels on Monday, 9-3. Luis Hidalgo got the start and took the loss, giving up three runs in four innings of work, but none of the runs were earned as he struck out six and walked two. Alvin Acosta then allowed just one more run in his three innings of work to keep the club in the game, and with a run an inning from the fifth through the seventh, they headed to the eighth down 4-3. But Rafael Manzanillo and Ricardo Ciriaco combined to allow five runs and put the game out of reach. Samuel Ortiz had a hit and a walk, scored once and drove in a run. Confesor Lara also added two hits including a double and scored once.
R VSL Tigers - GM1: Pirates 5, Tigers 1
GM2: Pirates 8, Tigers 4
6-10, 5th in VSL
The VSL Tigers dropped both games of their doubleheader with the VSL Pirates on Monday, losing 5-1 and 8-4. Yorfrank Lopez took the loss in the first game, giving up four runs via three walks and three hits allowed in just one inning of work. Cruz Cedeno did allow just one run in four innings, but the damage had already been done. The team managed just four hits, a double from Anderson Yance and three hits from Jose Soledad - Soledad scored the team's only run via Yance's RBI hit. In the second game, the two teams were knotted up at four heading into the seventh inning, but then the VSL Pirates up four runs on Jose Tablante to take the lead and the win. Just two of the four runs allowed were earned, however. Eduardo Rojas got the start and gave up four runs in 2 1/3 innings. Jesus Ustariz had two hits and belted a three run homer.
