AAA Toledo Mud Hens - Gwinnett 4, Toledo 1
27-33, 4th in West Division
The Mud Hens fell to Gwinnett as they kicked off their homestand, losing 4-1. L.J. Gagnier got the start and took the loss, giving up four runs (three earned) in five innings of work, allowing seven hits while walking one and striking out six. Jose Ortega and Lester Oliveros each tossed two innings of shutout relief. At the plate, Scott Thorman drove in Cale Iorg for the team's only run. Bryan Pounds had the team's only extra base hit.
AA Erie Seawolves - Altoona 10, Erie 5
27-29, 4th in Western Division
The SeaWolves got roughed up as they lost to Altoona 10-5. Mark Sorensen got the start and took the loss, giving up eight runs on nine hits in 4 2/3 innings of work. He did however strike out seven. Austin Wood tossed 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief, but then Zach Sameuls put the club further into a hole allowing two more runs in his 1 1/3 innings. Justin Henry had two hits and drove in two runs for the club, while Shawn Roof added three hits and scored once. Francisco Martinez also added a double and scored.
A+ Lakeland Flying Tigers – Off Day
30-28, 4th in North Division
Lakeland was off on Tuesday but begins a short two game set on Daytona on Wednesday.
A West Michigan Whitecaps - West Michigan 4, Peoria 1
25-33, 8th in Eastern division
The Whitecaps got the road trip off to a good start with a 4-1 win over Peoria on Tuesday. Kyle Ryan got the start but took a no decision, giving up just one run on six hits in five innings of work. Michael Torrealba got the win in relief, tossing three shutout innings for the club, with Bruce Rondon pitching the ninth for his eighth save. The game was tied at one heading into the ninth, but that all changed in the top half of the inning, when the recently-promoted Javier Azcona belted a three run homer to give the 'Caps a three run cushion. Rob Brantly also added a hit and an RBI, and Luis Castillo had a double and scored a run.
R DSL Tigers - Postponed: Rain
1-4, 4th in DSL SPM Division
The DSL Tigers were postponed on Tuesday. They've got a doubleheader scheduled for Wednesday with the DSL Blue Jays.
R VSL Tigers - Phillies 9, Tigers 3
6-11, 5th in VSL
The VSL Tigers fell again on Tuesday as another losing streak picks up - they lost to the VSL Phillies 9-3. Carlos Alvarado got the start and took the loss, giving up four unearned runs in three innings of work. Jose Mendoza allowed three more runs in two innings, and Junior Camaripano allowed the final two runs (again just one earned) to wrap up the runs allowed. Jose Soledad had two hits and drove in a run for the club, while Carlos Perez added a hit and an RBI and Anderson Yance chipped in with three hits.
