AAA Toledo Mud Hens - Toledo 2, Rochester 1
29-37, 4th in West Division
Andrew Oliver out-dueled Kyle Gibson as Toledo topped Rochester 2-1. Oliver earned the win, going six innings, allowing just two hits and one unearned run. He did walk five, but struck out nine as he exited with the 2-1 lead, thanks to three doubles in the fourth inning from Ryan Strieby, Scott Thorman and Omir Santos that produced two runs. From there, Brendan Wise and Matt Hoffman each got two outs to get a hold, and then Lester Oliveros pitched the final 1 2/3 innings, allowing just one hit while striking out three to get his fourth save.
AA Erie Seawolves - Off Day
30-31, 5th in Western Division
The SeaWolves were off on Monday but return to action on Tuesday to face Portland at home.
A+ Lakeland Flying Tigers – Lakeland 13, Brevard County 6
34-30, 4th in North Division
The Flying Tigers again put up an offensive onslaught as they topped Brevard County 13-6. Drew Smyly got the start and the win, though it wasn't his best outing. He allowed six runs (four earned) on nine hits in 6 1/3 innings of work with a walk and three strikeouts. Michael Morrison and Victor Larez combined to pitch the final 2 2/3 innings, not allowing a run. The story though again came at the plate, with a number of players having big games. Daniel Fields went 2-for-5 with a double and a home run and drove in four runs total. Avisail Garcia added three hits including a solo home run, driving in two and scoring three times. Corey Jones also added three hits including a double and drove in three runs, and Wade Gaynor had two RBI and drove in three runs.
A West Michigan Whitecaps - Off Day
30-33, 6th in Eastern division
Like Erie, the Whitecaps got a day off on Monday but return to action Tuesday when they face off against Bowling Green.
R DSL Tigers - Tigers 2, Blue Jays 1
5-5, 3rd in DSL SPM Division
The DSL Tigers evened their record at .500 with a 2-1 win over the DSL Blue Jays. Ricardo Ciriaco got the start and his first win of the season, tossing five shutout innings, allowing just two hits and two walks and striking out four. Miguel Montero allowed the only earned run, but Alvin Acosta tossed 2 2/3 innings without allowing a run, and then Walter Lachapel pitched the ninth to earn his first save. The offense scattered seven hits, including getting two doubles from Alwin Acosta. Francisco Contreras also added a double and an RBI.
R VSL Tigers - Tigers 7, Reds 6
8-13, 6th in VSL
The VSL Tigers also got a win on Monday, topping the VSL Reds 7-6. Yorfrank Lopez got the start and took a no decision, giving up four runs (three earned) on six hits in four innings of work. Eduardo Rojas then tossed three no-hit innings of relief, with Yonny Mosquera, who would get the win, following that up with a scoreless inning as well. Jose Tablante then came on in the ninth after the Tigers scored three runs in the top half of the inning, and he allowed two runs but held the one run lead to secure the win. Daniel Carranza had a double and drove in two runs for the club, while Jose Soledad added a solo home run. Jesus Ustariz also added two hits including a double and drove in a run.
