AAA Toledo Mud Hens - Toledo 4, Louisville 2
31-47, 4th in West Division
The Mud Hens prevented another sweep and snapped their nine game losing skid as they beat Louisville 4-2. Duane Below got the start and the win for the club, giving up two runs on four hits in six innings of work. He also walked three and struck out six. Brendan Wise then tossed a scoreless inning, and Lester Oliveros pitched the final two innings, allowing just one hit and one walk with three strikeouts to earn his fifth save. At the plate, Will Rhyme went 2-for-3 with a double and drove in a run. Argenis Diaz also went 2-for-3 with a double, scoring twice. Danny Worth and Clete Thomas each added an RBI as well.
AA Erie Seawolves - Richmond 10, Erie 1
36-38, 5th in Western Division
Erie had another rough go of it against Richmond as they fell 10-1. Brooks Brown got roughed up as the starter, giving up nine runs on 11 hits in just 2 1/3 innings before exiting. The bullpen pitched well from there, with Zach Simons, Robbie Weinhardt and Chance Ruffin all having scoreless outings, only Rob Waite allowed a run in his inning of work. However, the offense remained quiet with just five singles and went 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position. Francisco Martinez had a hit and drove in Jamie Johnson for the club's lone run.
A+ Lakeland Flying Tigers – Lakeland 5, Clearwater 2
1-1, 5th in North Division
The Flying Tigers topped Clearwater after a couple days of rainouts, winning 5-2. Cole Nelson got the start and earned the win, giving up two runs in six innings with two walks and five strikeouts. Tyler Stohr then tossed two scoreless innings to pick up a hold, and Kenny Faulk pitched the ninth allowing a walk with two strikeouts for his 19th save. Brent Wyatt had two hits including a double and drove in a run, while Corey Jones added a hit and two runs driven in. Jordan Lennerton also added a pair of hits and and scored once, and Julio Rodriguez ripped a double and drove in a run.
A West Michigan Whitecaps - West Michigan 3, South Bend 0
2-1, t-3rd in Eastern division
The Whitecaps shut out South Bend on Sunday afternoon, picking up a 3-0 win. Brian Flynn got his first win with the organization, tossing seven shutout innings, yielding just three hits while striking out five. Nate Newman pitched the final two innings to earn his first save. At the plate, Hernan Perez, Rob Brantly and Nick Castellanos each drove in a run, while Luis Castillo scored twice from the top of the order. Jeff Rowland also added a pair of doubles.
SS-A Connecticut Tigers - Connecticut 3, Tri-City 1
4-4, 3rd in Stedler Division
Connecticut used a three run ninth inning to pick up a 3-1 win over Tri-City on Sunday. Matt Crouse got the start for the CT-Tigers and tossed six shutout innings, allowing just three hits while striking out three. Kevan Hess tossed two innings of relief, not allowing a run, as he earned the win. Daniel Bennett then allowed a run in the ninth after he was handed a three run lead but held on to pick up his first save. The big inning started with a solo home run from Jason King and then added onto when Zach Maggard added a two run homer that scored Matt Perry as well. Chad Wright also added a pair of hits for the club.
