AAA Toledo Mud Hens - Columbus 6, Toledo 3
36-53, 4th in West Division

The Mud Hens fell to Columbus 6-3 on Thursday night on the road. Thad Weber was very strong as the starter, giving up two runs in seven innings of work. However, Matt Hoffman and Chance Ruffin each yielded a pair of runs in relief, with Hoffman taking the loss and Ruffin credited with the blown save. Jose Ortega didn't allow a run while recording the final two outs, but the damage had already been done. At the plate, Ryan Strieby went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and Timo Perez added a double with a run scored and an RBI.

AA Erie Seawolves - Harrisburg 5, Erie 0
42-44, 5th in Western Division

Harrisburg completed its sweep of Erie with a 5-0 shutout win. Casey Crosby got the start and took the loss, giving up five runs in six innings of work with a walk and two strikeouts. Robbie Weinhardt pitched the last two innings without allowing a run, but the Erie offense would remain quiet. The team managed just two hits, with a double coming from Rawley Bishop and a single from Brandon Douglas.

A+ Lakeland Flying Tigers – Postponed: Rain
5-7, 6th in North Division

The Flying Tigers game with Dunedin has been postponed due to rain and will be made up on August 30.

A West Michigan Whitecaps - West Michigan 8, Lansing 5
8-6, t-2nd in Eastern division

West Michigan avenged Wednesday night's loss with an 8-5 win over Lansing on Thursday. Kevin Eichhorn got the start and the win, giving up four runs in 6 1/3 innings of work. He also walked three and struck out six. Patrick Cooper then allowed one run in 2 1/3 innings before handing the ball over to Bruce Rondon, who got the final out of the game to record his 16th save. At the plate, Luis Castillo ripped a triple and a home run and drove in three runs total. Jeff Rowland also went 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Steven Moya added two hits, scored twice and drove in two runs.

SS-A Connecticut Tigers - Staten Island 4, Connecticut 3
8-11, 3rd in Stedler Division

For the second straight day, the CT-Tigers suffered a one-run defeat at the hands of Staten Island, falling this time 4-3. Matt Crouse got the start and a no decision, giving up two runs on four hits in 5 2/3 innings with two walks and seven strikeouts. Jeff Barfield provided the club with 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief, but Daniel Bennett allowed the tying run to score in his inning, and then Drew Gagnier gave up the winning run to take the loss. Jeff Holm belted a solo home run, while Dean Green added two hits and an RBI.

R GCL Tigers - Postponed: Rain
6-9, 5th in North Division

R DSL Tigers - No Report
9-20, 4th in DSL SPM Division

R VSL Tigers - Tigers 5, Mariners 2
16-28, 6th in VSL

The VSL Tigers got a 5-2 win on Thursday over the VSL Mariners behind a strong start from Carlos Alvarado. Alvarado went six innings, allowing one unearned run on three hits with seven strikeouts. Yonny Mosquera allowed one run in his inning of relief, but Jose Rodriguez and Angel Nesbitt then each tossed a scoreless inning of relief to seal the win, with Nesbitt earning the save. Gabriel Tenia ripped a solo home run, while Jose Soledad added two hits including a double and scored once.
