April 9th Games

AAA Toledo Mud Hens
1-3, 4th in West Division

Team R H E
Louisville 9 12 0
Toledo 3 5 3

Auditioning in front of Tigers manager Jim Leyland, Casey Crosby was shaky in his first start for Toledo. Crosby gave up six runs (four earned) in four-plus innings of work, picking up the loss. Crosby gave up two runs in the top of the first and two more in the top of the third, which put Toledo down 4-0. He did have five strikeouts, but certainly didn't take advantage of the opportunity presented to him as the Tigers look for a fifth starter to replace the injured Doug Fister. At the plate, Ryan Strieby went 2-for-4 with one run scored, while Brad Eldred went 1-for-4 with a double and all three RBIs for the Mud Hens.

AA Erie Seawolves
1-3, 5th in Eastern Division

Team R H E
Erie 0 4 0
Binghamton 8 11 3

Starter Ramon Garcia gave up four runs in three innings in a loss, but the SeaWolves offense didn't help at all. Garcia gave up seven hits over the three innings, although he did strike out five. Zach Samuels gave up three earned runs in the seventh inning out of the bullpen. Four SeaWolves players collected one single each as the only offense for Erie.

High-A Lakeland Flying Tigers
3-1, T-1st in North Division

Team R H E
Brevard County 5 5 1
Lakeland 4 12 0

The Flying Tigers were tied at two after eight innings, but Matt Little and Bruce Rondon combined to give up three runs in the ninth inning. Lakeland scored two runs in the bottom of the inning, falling just short and giving Little the loss. Mark Sorenson had a great start, giving up just one earned run over seven innings. Tyler Collins had another three-hit day, which included two doubles and two runs scored. Nick Castellanos hit the Flying Tigers' first home run of the season with a solo shot in the ninth. Lakeland went 3-for-17 with runners in scoring position.

Low-A West Michigan Whitecaps
2-2, T-3rd in Eastern Division

Team R H E
Bowling Green 0 5 0
West Michigan 4 10 0

Brennan Smith pitched five shutout innings, giving up just four hits and picking up the win. Each of the Whitecaps' 2-5 hitters had two hits, with Dean Green going 2-for-4 with his second home run of the season and Steven Moya going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Aaron Westlake also went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored. Out of the bullpen, Ryan Woolley gave up one hit in two innings while Michael Torrealba and Daniel Bennett each pitched one perfect inning.
