Stewart Leads 'Caps to Win (4/26 Recaps)

Jake Stewart brought the power to West Michigan's lineup on Friday, powering a homerun to complement his three runs driven in as the Whitecaps topped Wisconsin. Erie also had a great outing behind another solid performance by pitcher Victor Larez, who improved his record to 3-0 on the season. Toledo and Lakeland both fell on Friday.

Toledo attempted to make a comeback against Durham by driving in two runs in the eighth inning but fell short against the Bulls, falling 5-4 on Friday. Starting pitcher Casey Crosby struggled as his record dropped to 1-4 on the year, going four innings while giving up four earned runs on six hits. Ben Guez had a good night at the plate for the Mud Hens, going 2-for-3 with a walk while driving in two runs in the loss.

11-8, 1st in Eastern Division

Victor Larez took the mound for the SeaWolves on Friday in hopes of maintaining his undefeated start to the season and did just that as Erie topped Altoona 7-3. Larez's record improved to 3-0 with the win as the starter gave up two earned runs on four hits in five innings of work. Matt Crouse earned his first save of the season in the win. Hernan Perez had a solid game offensively for Erie, going 3-for-5 with two runs driven in in the win. James McCann also drove in two runs on a 2-for-4 night.

High-A Lakeland Flying Tigers
7-14, 6th in North Division

For the second day in a row Lakeland made a late charge to get back into the game against Daytona and for the second day in a row the Flying Tigers fell short, falling to the Cubs 7-3 on Friday. Starting pitcher Jeff Ferrell earned the loss, giving up five earned runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings of work. Mike Hernandez and Aaron Westlake were the lone Lakeland players to drive in runs, with the third run coming on an error.

9-10, 5th in Eastern Division

West Michigan tallied a much-needed road win on Friday behind a great pitching performance, topping Wisconsin 5-1. Starter Hudson Randall was impressive on the way to his second win of the season, giving up one earned run on five hits in 6 2/3 innings of work. Jake Stewart had a big night offensively for the ‘Caps, going 2-for-4 with a homerun and three runs driven in in the win.
