West Michigan relied on Devon Travis to carry the load against Dayton on Thursday as the second baseman drove in two runs to lead the 'Caps over the Dragons. Toledo topped Scranton/Wilkes-Barre behind a strong performance by Jordan Lennerton and the VSL Tigers won a shootout against the VSL Cubs. Lakeland fell against Palm Beach after giving up a two-run lead.

After the offense had to carry the load a night ago, Toledo relied on starting pitching on Thursday to top Scranton/Wilkes-Barre as the Mud Hens topped the RailRiders 4-1. Starting pitching Derek Hankins earned his first win of the season, giving up one earned run on six hits in 6 ? innings. Bruce Rondon earned his eighth save of the season in the win. Jordan Lennerton drove in two runs for Toledo on a 2-for-4 night while Ramon Cabrera also drove in a run in the win.

Starting pitcher Kyle Ryan earned his fourth loss of the season, giving up four earned runs on six hits in seven innings on the mound. Jeff McVaney notched the lone RBI for Lakeland on a 1-for-4 night at the plate.

A five-run second inning made the difference for West Michigan on Thursday as the Whitecaps topped Dayton 6-4. Edgar De La Rosa improved his record to 2-0 with the win, allowing three earned runs on six hits in six innings of work. Jose Valdez earned his seventh save of the season. Lance Durham brought the power to the lineup for West Michigan, notching a solo home run on a 2-for-4 night at the plate. Devon Travis drove in two runs and hit a double on a 1-for-4 night.
