Toledo answered to a 1-0 deficit by scoring eight unanswered runs against Charlotte on Wednesday, led by three home runs in the game for the Mud Hens. West Michigan also took home a win behind an excellent pitching performance from Jordan John. Erie fell to Trenton, Lakeland gave up a three-run inning to fall to Dunedin and the VSL Tigers fell on the road.

After falling behind 1-0 in Wednesday's game against Charlotte, Toledo scored eight unanswered runs as part of a big offensive night for the Mud Hens, topping the Knights 12-4. Starting pitcher Jose Alvarez improved his record to 5-3 in the win after allowing three earned runs on five hits over five innings of work. Danny Dorn led the charge offensively for the Mud Hens, hitting his tenth home run of the season and driving in two runs in the win. Nick Castellanos hit his sixth home run on a solo shot while Ben Guez also hit a home run and drove in two for Toledo.

For the second game in a row pitching was the story in Erie's game against Trenton on Wednesday as the SeaWolves could only put one in the run column, falling to the Thunder 3-1. Starting pitcher Patrick Cooper fell to 2-5 in the loss, allowing three earned runs on four hits over six innings. Eugenio Suarez was the lone Erie hitter to drive in a run, hitting a solo home run on a 2-for-3 night at the plate.

Lakeland jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in Wednesday's game against Dunedin but the Flying Tigers gave up a three-run fourth inning, falling to the Blue Jays 3-2. Jeff Ferrell earned his fourth loss of the season in the start, giving up three earned runs on 9 hits over 6 ? innings of work. Steven Moya had another strong night at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a triple and a run driven in in the loss.

Starting pitching was key for West Michigan on Wednesday as the Whitecaps shut out Great Lakes, topping the Loons 5-0. Starting pitcher Jordan John was electric in improving his record to 3-3, shutting out Great Lakes on four hits over six innings while striking out eight. Josh Turley earned his second save of the season in the win. Adolfo Reina had a big night at the plate for West Michigan, hitting a home run and driving in two for the Whitecaps. Austin Schotts also drove in two runs in the win.

The VSL Tigers put up four runs late in Wednesday's game but it wasn't enough to top the Phillies, falling in a 6-4 final. Starting pitcher Anthony Castro earned a no decision in the loss, allowing one earned run on three hits over three innings on the mound. Jesus Paricaguan earned his first loss of the season in relief. Ariel Serrano and Mario Sanjur each drove in runs for the Tigers in the loss.
