Catching Up With Cal Drummond

Calvin Drummond immediately made an impact after being drafted by the Detroit Tigers last June. Last week, Drummond briefly discussed his off-season adjustments and his future role with the organization.

Calvin Drummond, 24, recorded a 2.13 ERA 0.95 WHIP and 49 strikeouts over 42 1/3 innings between the GCL and MWL.

Drummond on his potential assignment this season: "I haven't heard anything yet about where I will start the season. I'm assuming it will have a little bit to do with how the spring goes."

Drummond on whether he'll start or relieve this season: "I do not know whether they want me to start or relieve but I personally prefer to start. I have the durability and pitch arsenal to be a good starter. I also love having a larger responsibility in getting my team a win. I'm not sure what the organization is thinking but I'll do whatever is best for the organization."

The 6'3" right-hander also stated that he worked hard to polish his change-up this off-season.

Drummond was recently tabbed a member of the TigsTown 2014 Top 50, the 45th best prospect in the Tigers organization by TigsTown. Read his full scouting report here!
