TigsTown PR 6/4: Moya Mashing/Knuckle Dancing

Curious which Tigers minor leaguers are hot? The TigsTown Power Rankings (or TigsTownPR, for short) has you covered, updating the top ten players and pitchers in the org based on recent performance. This week, did Steven Moya's hot hitting make a run at the top spot? And who is the knuckleballer making a name for himself?

As a reminder, the weekly rankings do not re?ect overall prospect status; nor are they exclusive to members of the TigsTown Top 50. The weekly update factors both performance from the previous week of play and overall numbers. Only players currently in the minors will be eligible each week. Be sure to check back every Wednesday for the latest edition.

1. RHP Jake Thompson - A+ Lakeland
55 IP | 1.64 ERA | 1.04 WHIP | 5-1 | 52 K | 19 BB |
Surprise: Thompson holds the top spot yet again in the Power Rankings after earning his fifth win last week against the Miami Marlins High-A affiliate. The right-hander struck out seven, allowed one hit and two walks over five shutout innings. Thompson was also recently selected to represent the Flying Tigers in the FSL All-Star Game.

2. RHP Jonathon Crawford - A West Michigan
47 2/3 IP | 2.27 ERA | 1.05 WHIP | 2-1 | 44 K | 14 BB |
Crawford earned a no-decision in his lone start, allowing five hits, three walks and two earned runs over six innings. Crawford currently boasts the fifth lowest WHIP and sixth lowest ERA in the Midwest League.

3. OF Steven Moya - AA Erie
203 AB | .286 AVG | .868 OPS | 16 2B | 2 3B | 12 HR | 9 SB
The hot streak continues for Steven Moya. Absolutely on fire his last ten games, Moya is batting .476 with 13 extra-base hits (8 HR) and 18 RBI. Moya currently boasts the 3rd most home runs, 4th highest slugging percentage and 5th most doubles in the Eastern League. In short, he's still a beast.

4. RHP Austin Kubitza - A West Michigan
58 IP | 2.02 ERA | 1.07 WHIP | 5-0 | 68 K | 21 BB |
Austin Kubitza earned a no-decision for the third consecutive start this past week. The Tigers fourth rounder from last season's June Draft struck out three and allowed three runs (one earned) over the six inning start. Kubitza currently has the third lowest ERA, 8th lowest WHIP and second most strikeouts in the Midwest League.

5. SS Eugenio Suarez - AAA Toledo
198 AB | .288 AVG | .870 OPS | 18 2B | 1 3B | 8 HR | 9 SB
Eugenio Suarez cooled off a tad, going just 3-for-19 this past week. Regardless, the 22-year-old infielder's overall body of work this season remains impressive. Suarez is batting .302 with a .939 OPS over 43 ABs since his promotion to Triple-A Toledo.

6. LHP Josh Turley - A+ Lakeland
63 1/3 IP | 1.85 ERA | 0.96 WHIP | 5-0 | 51 K | 15 BB |
Utilizing the knuckleball a bit more, southpaw Josh Turley threw seven innings of shutout ball, striking out three against the St. Louis Cardinals High-A affiliate on Sunday afternoon. Turley currently boasts the 2nd lowest WHIP and 5th lowest ERA in the FSL. Turley was also recently selected to represent the Flying Tigers in the FSL All-Star Game.

7. RHP Angel Nesbitt - A+ Lakeland
31 1/3 IP | 0.86 ERA | 0.96 WHIP | 2-0 | 32 K | 8 BB | 11 SV
Flamethrower Angel Nesbitt had yet another productive week: 4 IP 0R 2H 0BB and 8K--extending his scoreless streak to 14 1/3 innings. The 23-year-old closer's eleven saves are second best in the FSL. Nesbitt was also recently selected to represent the Flying Tigers in the FSL All-Star Game.

8. LHP Kyle Lobstein - AAA Toledo
59 1/3 IP | 3.49 ERA | 1.38 WHIP | 4-5 | 60 K | 14 BB |
Lobstein has rebounded nicely after a disastrous April (7.84 ERA over 5 starts). Lobstein had a tidy 1.16 ERA with 40 strikeouts over 38 2/3 May innings.

9. OF Ezequiel Carrera - AAA Toledo
168 AB | .315 AVG | .849 OPS | 7 2B | 3 3B | 3 HR | 22 SB
Carrera went just 7-for-24 since we last checked in. Regardless, the 26-year-old outfielder leads the International League in stolen bases, has the sixth best batting average and ninth best OPS.

10. OF Chad Wright - A+ Lakeland
212 AB | .316 AVG | .821 OPS | 14 2B | 1 3B | 3 HR | 4 SB
Wright will be 25-years-old next month. I don't care. I'm going to ignore age/level and give credit where credit is due. Wright had a monster month batting .354 with a .907 OPS in May. He really hasn't slowed down either, batting .372 over his last ten games. Wright currently boasts the 8th best average and ten highest OPS in the FSL.
