TigsTown PR 6/11: Travis on Fire

In the latest edition of the TigsTown Power Rankings, the top spots remain largely the same, but a couple of newcomers are making a surge, including Devon Travis, who has been on fire over the last week and a half.

As a reminder, the weekly rankings do not re?ect overall prospect status; nor are they exclusive to members of the TigsTown Top 50. The weekly update factors both performance from the previous week of play and overall numbers. Only players currently in the minors will be eligible each week. Be sure to check back every Wednesday for the latest edition.

1. RHP Jake Thompson - A+ Lakeland
61 2/3 IP | 2.48 ERA | 1.14 WHIP | 6-2 | 59 K | 22 BB |
Thompson earned a win and a loss over two starts this past week. The right-hander allowed eight runs (seven earned) over a combined 6 2/3 innings. The bulk of the damage came from a six hit, two walk, six earned run performance over 1 2/3 innings earlier this week. Thompson will represent the Flying Tigers in the FSL All-Star Game on Saturday evening.

2. RHP Jonathon Crawford - A West Michigan
53 2/3 IP | 2.18 ERA | 1.10 WHIP | 3-1 | 46 K | 19 BB |
Crawford picked up his third win of the season in his lone start, allowing four hits, five walks and an earned run over six innings. The right-hander currently boasts the fourth lowest ERA and fifth lowest WHIP in the Midwest League. Crawford was also recently selected to represent the Whitecaps in the MWL All-Star Game next week.

3. OF Steven Moya - AA Erie
225 AB | .271 AVG | .815 OPS | 17 2B | 2 3B | 12 HR | 9 SB
Moya cooled off a tick since we last checked in: just 6-for-28. Regardless, Moya still boasts the 3rd most home runs, 7th most doubles and 8th highest slugging percentage in the Eastern League. Moya is enjoying a bit of a breakout season; finally putting it all together on a more regular basis. Imagine if the 22-year-old could improve perhaps his biggest bugaboo, his awful 27.9% strikeout ratio and 2.6% walk ratio.

4. RHP Austin Kubitza - A West Michigan
65 IP | 2.08 ERA | 1.08 WHIP | 6-0 | 73 K | 23 BB |
Kubitza earned a no-decision for the third consecutive start this past week. The Tigers fourth rounder from last season's June Draft struck out three and allowed three runs (one earned) over the six inning start. Kubitza currently has the second lowest ERA, second most strikeouts and 7th lowest WHIP in the Midwest League. Kubitza was also recently selected to represent the Whitecaps in the MWL All-Star Game next week.

5. RHP Angel Nesbitt - A+ Lakeland
33 1/3 IP | 0.81 ERA | 0.93 WHIP | 2-0 | 36 K | 8 BB | 13 SV
The flamethrower threw two scoreless innings, striking out four, extending his scoreless streak to 16 1/3 innings. The 23-year-old closer's thirteen saves are second best in the FSL. Nesbitt will represent the Flying Tigers in the FSL All-Star Game this Saturday evening.

6. LHP Josh Turley - A+ Lakeland
69 1/3 IP | 2.08 ERA | 0.95 WHIP | 5-0 | 58 K | 16 BB |
Southpaw Josh Turley's impressive scoreless streak ended at 25 2/3 innings last weekend against the Minnesota Twins High-A affiliate. Despite allowing three earned-runs over 6 innings Turley still boasts the lowest WHIP and 4th lowest ERA in the FSL. Turley will also represent the Flying Tigers in the FSL All-Star Game Saturday evening.

7. 2B Devon Travis - AA Erie
105 AB | .286 AVG | .792 OPS | 5 2B | 3 3B | 3 HR |
Travis has been on fire since returning from the disabled list in late-May. Over his last ten games Travis is batting .405 with seven extra-base hits and a 1.159 OPS. After an ice cold month of April, the 23-year-old appears to be back on track.

8. OF Wynton Bernard - A West Michigan
231 AB | .325 AVG | .841 OPS | 15 2B | 2 3B | 3 HR |
Bernard has been absolutely on fire his last ten games, batting .513 with a 1.125 OPS and 7 stolen bases. Bernard currently has the second best batting average and fifth most stolen bases in the Midwest League. The 23-year-old will represent the Whitecaps in the MWL All-Star Game next week.

9. OF Ezequiel Carrera - AAA Toledo
194 AB | .320 AVG | .848 OPS | 9 2B | 3 3B | 3 HR | 25 SB
Carrera went 9-for-26 with three doubles and three stolen bases since we last checked in. The 26-year-old outfielder leads the International League in stolen bases, has the seventh best batting average and eleventh best OPS.

10. OF Chad Wright - A+ Lakeland
212 AB | .316 AVG | .821 OPS | 14 2B | 1 3B | 3 HR | 4 SB
Wright went 9-for-29 with a double and a three-run homer since we last checked in. Wright continues hold the 6th best average and ten highest OPS in the FSL. There's a few prospects nipping at his heels, but for at least one more week, Wright holds onto the final spot.
