AAA Toledo - C James McCann
81 AB | .383 AVG | .965 OPS | 14 2B | 0 3B | 0 HR | 2 SB
McCann had been slowly ramping up his production over the first half of the season, but really turned it up in July, hitting a double roughly once every six at-bats, which carried him to an OPS that approached 1.000. As he continues to shine offensively, you have to wonder if and when the Tigers give him a look in Detroit, given the position's offensive struggles, especially against left-handers, who McCann feasts on with a .367/.418/.505 line against LHP's.
Runner-Up: OF Tyler Collins
AA Erie - OF Steven Moya
112 AB | .304 AVG | .999 OPS | 7 2B | 1 3B | 10 HR | 3 SB
Given how hot he has been as of late, it should be no surprise that Moya claims the top spot in Erie, as he continues to lead the way in isolated power production in the Eastern League. In July, he belted 18 extra base hits while hitting over .300, and even showed a bit of increased patience, with nine walks. Travis had another good month as well, hitting .328, but just doesn't match the power production of Moya.
Runner-Up: 2B Devon Travis
A+ Lakeland - C Austin Green
83 AB | .301 AVG | .904 OPS | 3 2B | 1 3B | 6 HR |
Offense has been relatively scarce from much of the Lakeland lineup this year, but Green had a big month, with ten extra base hits to go with his .300 average. Castro didn't receive a ton of at-bats, but hit .288 in his limited duty as he continues to flash his natural hitting ability.
Runner-Up: 2B Harold Castro
A West Michigan - C Grayson Greiner
67 AB | .313 AVG | .818 OPS | 4 2B | 0 3B | 1 HR |
In Greiner's first full month of competition after being drafted in June, he was more than capable of handling the duties, hitting for an excellent average while showing good patience at the plate. Bernard out-produced Greiner, but has already been honored multiple times this season. Greiner's season is over however, after undergoing surgery after being placed on the disabled list a couple weeks ago.
Runner-Up: OF Wynton Bernard
SS-A Connecticut - 3B Joey Pankake
86 AB | .407 AVG | .993 OPS | 10 2B | 0 3B | 0 HR | 1 SB
Another recent draft pick gets honored, as Pankake led the way for the CT-Tigers, hitting over .400 at the hot corner with ten doubles in just 86 at-bats. Fuentes also had a strong month, with a .318 average and .485 slugging percentage.
Runner-Up: IF Steven Fuentes
R GCL Tigers - 3B Zach Shepherd
76 AB | .329 AVG | .870 OPS | 6 2B | 1 3B | 2 HR |
Shepherd gets the nod in the GCL, putting up nine extra base hits to go with his .329 average in 76 at-bats for the rookie club. Brugnoni has a great case for the honor as well, with his .325/.460/.675 line, but only had 40 at bats in the month.
Runner-Up: 1B Giancarlo Brugnoni
R DSL Tigers - SS Manuel Joseph
83 AB | .446 AVG | 1.206 OPS | 8 2B | 4 3B | 2 HR | 7 SB
As good as Moya was, Joseph might have had the best month of any player in the entire farm system, with a .446 average, 14 extra base hits to produce an OPS over 1.200, while also swiping seven bases. Joseph wasn't the only one on the DSL Tigers that exceeded the 1.000 OPS mark, as Santana put up a .495 on-base percentage, but couldn't quite match Joseph's power or average.
Runner-Up: OF Felix Santana
R VSL Tigers - 3B Elizier Castillo
45 AB | .333 AVG | .832 OPS | 3 2B | 1 3B | 0 HR | 3 SB
Castillo posted a strong .333 average for the rookie club in Venezuela in limited at-bats, as is common for much of the lineup. Escobar added four doubles while hitting .347, also in limited appearances at the plate.
Runner-Up: C Elys Escobar
