Tigers Trade Cespedes to Mets for 2 Righties

The Tigers made a third trade to unload pending free agents just minutes before the trade deadline, sending Yoenis Cespedes to the Mets for a pair of right-handed pitching prospects.

It was believed that when Yoenis Cespedes was first acquired, it was as a one-year rental before he would hit free agency and command a massive contract. It looks like the rental period will be even shorter than that.

The Tigers are sending Cespedes to the Mets, receiving a pair of right-handed pitching prospects in return.

According to Jennifer Hammond of FOX 2 in Detroit, the Tigers are receiving Michael Fulmer and Luis Cessa.

Cessa, a 23-year-old right-hander, has a 3.98 ERA across Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Las Vegas, with 85 strikeouts in 101 2/3 innings of work.

Fulmer is 22 years old, and has been dominating at Binghamton, with 1.88 ERA over 15 starts. He's also struck out 83 in 86 innings of work.
