Johan Belisario (Relief Pitcher)-West Michigan

Dates Observed: April 10th, June 29th, July 16th and August 6th

Small guy; 5’11”, 165 appears fairly accurate; throws from a higher ¾ arm slot; good arm speed; some effort in delivery; works 90-92 t93 with some run on his fastball; below average command of his fastball; fastball is a current 5 with 5+ potential; main secondary offering is a curveball in the low-to mid 70’s; curveball has very good 11-5 movement; struggles with control and consistency on curveball; curveball is a current 5 with plus potential; major league upside; ceiling is a major league set-up guy.

Fernando Perez (Starting Pitcher)-West Michigan

Dates Observed: June 4th, July 6th and August 9th

Throws from a ¾ arm slot; not much effort in his delivery; some deception; works mostly 90-92 t93 with some movement on his fastball; bad fastball command; change-up is 83-86 with some mild fade; struggles to consistently throw strikes with his change-up; change-up is fringy; curveball is typically 74-77 with 11-5 movement; curveball has very inconsistent movement; struggles with curveball control; curveball is also fringy; org. guy.

Gage Smith (Relief Pitcher)-West Michigan

Dates Observed: May 12th, June 4th, June 18th and July 6th

Throws side-arm; low arm slot helps generate good movement and deception; generates a lot of weak contact from low level hitters; fastball is typically 84-85 t86 with good movement; struggles to throw fastball for strikes consistently; curveball is 71-73 with decent movement; often misses low with curveball and it is rarely thrown for strikes; curveball is fringy; change-up is 77-78; change-up doesn’t do much in terms of movement; not much here in terms of major league upside.

Trey Teakell (Relief Pitcher)-West Michigan

Dates Observed: August 6th and August 9th

Thin frame; throws from a higher ¾ arm slot; good deception in delivery; leg kick and good arm speed adds deception; fastball works 89-91 t92 with good sinking movement; sink on fastball will make him more of a groundball pitcher; struggles with fastball command; change-up is thrown 82-84 with good movement and fade; potential average major league offering; slider is thrown in the high 70’s to low 80’s; good movement on slider; another potential average major league offering with improved command and control; potential back-end starter.
