2004 Mock Draft 1.0

After the first few weeks of free agency teams are starting to get out of the market and focus more on next months draft to fill existing holes on their rosters. Several teams have extra selections in the first few rounds and more deals will come. TFY Draft Preview area scout Brent Foshee predicts what the first round would look like today.

1 San Diego Chargers: QB Eli Manning - There is almost no decision to be made here.

2 Oakland Raiders: QB Ben Roethlisberger - In the end Davis will take the great young QB he hasn't had in 25 years.

3 Arizona Cardinals: WR Larry Fitzgerald - Green knows him well.

4 New York Giants: OT Robert Gallery - Coughlin needs better play out of the Giants Oline for his system to work.

5 Washington Redskins: DS Sean Taylor - Snyder won't pass on the drafts best defensive player.

6 Detroit Lions: RB Steven Jackson - A perfect fit for the Mariucci offense.

7 Cleveland Browns: TE Kellen Winslow Jr. - Reunites with old college coach.

8 Atlanta Falcons: DT Tommie Harris - Harris may not have the size, but he is a quick penetrating DT.

9 Jacksonville Jaguars: WR Roy Williams - Heir apparent to Jimmy Smith.

10 Houston Texans: DE Kenechi Udeze - Brings a fierce pass rush to the Texans.

11 Pittsburgh Steelers: QB Philip Rivers - The Steelers are in love with Rivers.

12 New York Jets: MLB Jonathan Vilma - A heady fast LB that replaces Lewis and Jones as the fixture of the Jets D.

13 Buffalo Bills: CB Chris Gamble - Replace one OSU corner with a newer model.

14 Chicago Bears: WR Mike Williams - A huge target for Grossman and a young WR to build around.

15 Tampa Bay Buccaneers: OT Shawn Andrews - A huge right tackle is still needed in Tampa.

16 San Francisco 49 's:
DT Vince Wilfork - Maybe the best DT in the draft. Certainly SF's favorite.

17 Cincinnati Bengals:
DT Randy Starks - A solid interior lineman for Marvin Lewis.

18 New Orleans Saints: CB DeAngelo Hall - The Saints need a shut down CB to play opposite Fred Thomas.

19 Minnesota Vikings: DE Will Smith - A great value at #19. Smith is easily the BPA.

20 Miami Dolphins: WR Reggie Williams - Miami is looking at David Boston. If they sign him look for them to trade out of this pick.

21 New England Patriots: RB Kevin Jones  A great value here. Possibly the best back in the draft.

22 Dallas Cowboys: RB Chris Perry - Perry will help take some pressure off of Carter.

23 Seattle Seahawks: DE Marquise Hill  - Hill gives the Seahawks a playmaker at base end.

24 Denver Broncos: CB Will Poole - Poole and Bailey will be a great tandem for years. Could also look at RB if Perry is still available.

25 Green Bay Packers: CB Dunta Robinson - The Packers are looking for DB depth.

26 St. Louis Rams: TE Ben Troupe - An athlete and a playmaker, Martz could use him to exploit opposing LB's.

27 Tennessee Titans: DE Antwan Odom  - Tennessee begins to rebuild its defensive line first.

28 Philadelphia Eagles: WR Rashaun Woods  - Woods should finally give McNabb a playmaker at WR

29 Indianapolis Colts: OLB Karlos Dansby - Dansby, a steal at this point, will replace fellow Tiger Marcus Washington.

30 Kansas City Chiefs: WR Lee Evans  - At this point the Chiefs will choose the BPA.

31 Carolina Panthers: OLB D.J. Williams - Williams will bring more athleticism to an already solid defense.

32 New England Patriots: DT Dwan Edwards - Another big defensive lineman for the Pats D.
